A post-doc position is a available in HCMR within the frames of a new 3-year research grant (FISHPHAGE-Excellence Project). We seek for a highly motivated person with a strong background in microbiology and biotechnology. Candidates should hold a PhD in the area of phage microbiology, while research experience in phage therapy especially in aquaculture is necessary. The project aims at the development of phage-based prevention strategies against Vibrio anguillarum and Photobacterium damselae subsp. piscicida for the Mediterranean Aquaculture. POST-DOC Position in HCMR (phage therapy in Aquaculture) DEADLINE: 9/5/2014
The Hellenic Centre for Marine Research, which is a Public Research Organization based in Anavissos, Attiki, Greece, is offering a fifteen (15) -month research contract with the Institute of Marine Biology, Biotechnology and Aquaculture in the context of the Research Funding Program “ARISTEIA I” and the research project “FISHPHAGE: Biological control of bacteria in fish hatcheries using phages” implemented by GSRT through the Operational Program "Education and Lifelong Learning" of the National Strategic Reference Framework (NSRF), and funded by the European Union (European Social Fund - ESF) and Greek National Funds.
Description:
The Post-doctoral researcher will be expected to contribute to the isolation and characterization of lytic phages against bacteria fish pathogens aiming to their use as a means of prevention and treatment of disease in fish hatcheries
Required qualifications:
1. PhD in a discipline related to bacteriophage microbiology with emphasis in phage therapy applications in aquaculture
2. Publications related to the subject of the call in peer-reviewed scientific journals listed in the Science Citation Index of ISI
The total cost of the contract amounts to 27.200 Euros (including all tax deductions) for 15 months starting immediately.
Evaluation criteria and scores:
The scoring is valid only after fulfillment of all of the essential criteria for the aforementioned qualifications, consistent with the project requirements.
Qualifications Points:
1. PhD field and research area (up to 200 depending on relevance with the project)
2. Publications in peer reviewed journals (4 points for each relevant publication with maximum score 200)
Other conditions:
1) Any objections to the results of the candidates’ evaluation should be presented strictly within ten (10) working days from the day following the announcement of the results on the website of HCMR (www.hcmr.gr). Objections should be specific and submitted by hand or sent by post to: 46.7 km Athens-Sounio ave., Anavyssos, Greece, P.C.:19013. The right of access to personal files and data relating to the other candidates is exercised in favor of the applicant in accordance with the combined provisions of Law 2472/1997 and Law 2690/1999, under c / EX/4163-1/6-7-2012 document for the Protection of Personal Data in order to exercise his rights in accordance with the legal procedure (written request, documentation overriding legitimate interest etc).
2) In case of a tie, the candidate selected will be the one with the highest relevance of his/her PhD to the subject of the project.
3) An application form that does not meet the required qualifications is rejected and not rated further.
